Adventure Ideas

1. Scholars have spoken of a mass Centaur grave for centuries. At last, one scholar has found it, and wants to bring along some reliable adventurers to accompany him and his "team" of scholars/archaeologists to this mysterious site. The only problem: A rival has stolen the scholar's notes and maps, so before the trip begins, these items must be retrieved by the adventurers.

2. While entertaining themselves in a major port city, the players get into a brawl with a group of sailors. Despite how the fight turns out, it quickly escalates into a small riot on the street. By the time the city guards show up and settle things down, several important merchants that were passing by are dead. Who's to blame?

3.The adventurers have been traveling through the open desert for days, and they are running perilously low on food and water. They need to resupply soon, but they have seen no game animals or any vegetation at all. They soon realize that they are being followed by some type of aggressive desert people.

4. The players have been captured and convicted of crimes they did not commit. Instead of being sentenced to death they are banished from the kingdom and labeled as criminals. They are stripped of everything but meager clothes, chained, and are headed for a nasty prison colony in the middle of the ocean.

5. While traveling along a well known road in a dense forest, the players come across the remains of two large trade caravans. Both have been destroyed in a most vicious manner. Every wagon has been burned, every member of the caravan killed, including all of the pack animals. All of the merchandise was thrown into a large jumbled pile.

6. A player character staying at an inn is woken up to the sound of a trap door closing in their room. If they get up they will notice that light is emanting from underneath a trap door in their room. After a few seconds the light goes out. Will the player follow?

7. Three small red robed humans standing about 2 feet tall pass by the adventurers on the road in a city. If the adventurers decide to make fun or smirk at the small humans in any way, they will begin to shrink themselves to 2 feet as well over the next 2 days, courtesy of the magic of the red robed dwarves. Only by entreating to the little robed humans can the adventurers reclaim their rightful height.

8. An elven woman suddenly steps out from behind a tree onto the path in front of the players. With a big smile and outstreached arms she tells the players that she has been looking for them for so long. She invites them to meet her friends.

9. A camouflaged outlaw located on the left side of the trail and behind the party, releases a swinging log trap toward the party. Unless the adventurer in the rear says that they are looking toward the rear, that character will most likely be hit from behind. After being hit, 4 men attack the party looking for an item known as Cardor.

10. The players come upon a small cottage built into a hill and surrounded by dense forest. Next to the cottage is a chicken coop but there are no apparent signs of life. If the players decide to enter the cottage they can, the door is not locked. Inside a table is littered with roots, fungus, and interesting plant life. Almost immediately the players hear something moving as hundreds of rat-sized ticks flood out of the basement towards them.

11. The players discover a hidden cave entrance. If they enter, they discover a sleeping area for goblins. There are straw mattresses and goblin clothing littered on the cave floor. In addition, there is a large cache of arms and armor. Bits of armor, weapons, and mining equipment are piled and strewn all over. Suddenly, the players hear the sound of rumblings further down the cave.

RuneQuest Declaration

The time has come to launch the roleplaying game RuneQuest into the spotlight. This great game has been around for decades and unfortunately has been out of print for years.
We know that there are many of us that have been greatly disappointed with this development and have already created our own resources to replace what might have been printed. It is the purpose of this declaration to officially ask the loyal RuneQuest community to continue on. We must always fight for the game to be re-published as it was originally and to continue creating resources for all of us to enjoy. As a community of roleplayers, we must come together to immortalize RuneQuest and ensure that it never dies.

To this end we will continue expanding our own website and encourage all others to continue as well. We also call upon all Runequesters that do not have a website, to create one when possible, so that they can share their ideas with all of us if desired. We invite any who visit our pages to consider learning about and playing RuneQuest. We have created an area where newbies may come to find Runequesters in their local area to game with. We should help and encourage these new players and show them how much fun and enjoyment roleplaying gives us.

Finally, we would like to thank all of those who continue to support and immortalize RuneQuest. It pleases us that so many players are now online and that resources abound for all of us. May the game to continue to grow. Remember to always enjoy the roleplaying experience and keep it alive within your imagination.

Update: Mongoose Publishing has announced that the legendary RuneQuest roleplaying game will be added to their licensed publications in June 2006.
